At Café Frosch, I was lucky to meet Sumi-san, a very passionate and inspired woman. This place has become special to me in Kyoto. When I heard from Sumi-san about the past of the townhouse she uses now as a Café I was moved and could feel a little bit the old days atmosphere and the sound of the weaving shop this place used to be. -Lili Ash

I am 24 years old and I was born in the South of France. I did a Master’s degree in Anthropology and decided to focus my research about Japanese society. I visited Japan for the first time in 2014 and went to Hiroshima. I wrote a Master’s thesis about the memory of the atomic bombing. In January, I arrived in Kyoto to attend a 6 months course in a Japanese Language School. One of my main hobbies is taking pictures. Japan offers so unique sceneries, places and special atmospheres. I hope to share my pictures and the stories of the people I have met here to many people.
